Patricia Hicks is an experienced public administrator with a comprehensive background in education policy, legislative affairs, research, and government administration. After a rewarding career in state government, Ms. Hicks branched out on her own to focus on informing and fostering partnerships between schools, businesses, and community organizations willing to work together to ensure high academic achievement and postsecondary success for all students. Ms. Hicks currently provides technical assistance, training and consulting services to a variety of P-16 education stakeholders, including school districts, education associations, parent and community organizations.

With the goal of facilitating successful transitions for students via an all-inclusive, seamless education system, Ms. Hicks recently served as Director of P-16 Coordination in the Office of Dropout Prevention/College and Career Readiness Initiatives at the Texas Education Agency. In this role, she coordinated the implementation of joint educational programs and policies between Pre-K to 12 public education, higher education and workforce entities and provided policy guidance and support to the State P-16 Council.

Prior to joining TEA, Ms. Hicks served the state in a variety of roles in the Texas Legislature, including director of research and chief of staff in the Office of Lieutenant Governor Bill Ratliff. She later served as executive director for the Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors.

Ms. Hicks earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Public Relations and Master of Public Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
